Avuá Amburana is the cachaça that stops rum and whiskey lovers in their tracks — and the expression that proves Brazilian cane spirit is one of the most exciting and underexplored categories in the entire spirits world. Made at Fazenda da Quinta, a family-owned distillery established in 1923 in a small valley four hours north of Rio de Janeiro, Avuá was founded in 2009 by New York entrepreneurs Nate Whitehouse and Pete Nevenglosky after discovering just how extraordinary artisan Brazilian cachaça could be. The Amburana is the expression that made Avuá famous — distilled from single-estate first-pressed sugarcane juice, pot still distilled, and then aged for up to two years in vats made from Amburana, a rare Brazilian hardwood found only in the forests of Latin America that imparts a flavor profile completely unlike anything an oak barrel can produce. Blind tasters have confused it with rhum agricole — both derive from fresh cane juice, both carry grassy freshness — but the Amburana wood transforms everything with its unique cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and caraway character. The nose delivers overripe banana, banana chips, creamy vanilla, passion fruit, and faint nutmeg, while the palate brings sweet overripe banana, dried apricot, honey, drying cinnamon, black pepper, and basil — the oak influence profound yet strangely subtle — finishing with dry lingering oak, tropical fruit, and warm spice. Bottled at 40% ABV, uncolored, unfiltered, each bottle numbered. Buy Avuá Amburana Cachaça online with fast shipping right to your door.
